So im looking for a bike for next season, this would be my first and I figured looking during winter would give me the best prices and I found this. I love scramblers and im looking for something smaller since I don’t plan on a lot of highway riding
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Seller suggested the carbs need a tune up but that sounds like something I could do during a weekend in my in laws heated garage. So what does oppo think

“Needs carb work” is the motorcycle equivalent of “ran when parked” on CL. Could be that’s all it needs, could not.
If you’re really interested, take someone with you who knows their way around bikes who can at least give you a better idea if the bike is/will be rideable with minimal effort.
As for the cost... that’s STILL cheaper than most 70s era Hondas around where I live, if you can even find them. But then you head out to some place like California and you can find some decent bikes for under $1,000.

Yeah I figured I’d bring someone the only problem is most of the people I know who ride only have experience with fuel injected bikes

I’d be real suspicious of that one.... I find it hard to believe that someone would put that much work/custom parts into a bike yet they’re befuddled by a carb?

Not for the 8 mile trip to work and back haha

Eh, carbs of that vintage can be a pain, as you can’t run out and grab a spare if they’re shot. I would get more details on the ‘can’t keep it running’, and have a look at the plugs.
The price is probably too high. I’d go for it at $1500 if it doesn’t come off as sketchy in person.

I don’t even ride, and that bike gives me feels in the pants area. I’d go for it, but I’m a
masochist
sucker for a project. If you enjoy the idea of getting your hands dirty in exchange for having something to ride, jump on it.

youd be amazed...Ive completely rebuilt the suspension on my bike from the ground up basicly...
I wont touch a carb because I have no idea what to do with it (yet...)

I know carbs can seem to be an esoteric bitch at first (they’re not that bad once you open them up, actually pretty simple). But worst case senario- take it to a shop and for $100 have them dial in the carbs... But instead he’s (after all that work and $$$) just going to sell it in a non-running state...??
I bet it’s a loosening timing chain or deteriorating tensioner... and someone’s gonna have to crack open the cases before it’ll run correct......

On the upside, the carbs on the CL350 are not hard to clean and rebuild. Ask me how I know.
